Domus Academy is a living laboratory. An incubator of talents and a springboard for interdisciplinary adventures. A place where stellar careers are launched.
At Domus Academy, we can help students become protagonists in the highly competitive world of fashion and design. Offering one-year master’s courses in a wide variety of design specializations, the school centers around its unique “learning by designing” methodology.
This means that students can gain knowledge and practical skills by solving real-life design problems in collaboration with some of the most exciting brands in fashion, product design, interaction design, luxury goods, and more. In workshops, internships, and/or field experiences, students will work directly with companies to address the most contemporary design challenges in fresh and original ways. And they will do so under the guidance of faculty members who are professionals and opinion leaders in their fields.
Learning by Designing
We believe that working on real-world projects is the best way to learn. That’s why 90 percent of our curriculum is practical and applied. Students work on design assignments that replicate today’s professional design practices in an environment supportive of learning and experimentation.
Faculty Excellence
At Domus Academy, students work side-by-side with pre-eminent international designers and thought leaders who bring the pulse of the design world into the classroom and impart their knowledge of the latest design trends and practices.
Multidisciplinary Approach
Many of the most innovative design solutions are created through the collaboration of various design tools, competencies, and perspectives. Students share their point of view on design with their classmates across disciplines and learn to combine their ideas in their own fresh expressions.
Multiculturalism
Currently, more than 50 nationalities are represented on the Domus Academy campus. We believe that a multicultural point of view spurs a dynamic exchange of ideas and informs design excellence: an open mind sees a diversity of options and chooses concepts with universal resonance.
The Domus Academy educational offering includes 12 master programs. Domus Academy Master programs are recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR). The 12 master programs are divided in four areas, Design, Fashion, Business and Experience, which includes the Master in Interaction Design.
The Interaction Design master course
The Master in Interaction of Domus Academy presents a strong history.
Starting in the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, one of the first graduate design programs in the field of Interaction Design, and eventually merging its teaching program with Domus Academy in 2005.
The program promotes knowledge, skills and competences to define problems and solutions in the field of interaction and user experience design. Students learn how to adopt digital technology to create enriched experiences. They are encouraged to transform their original design visions into market opportunities, thanks to the effective use of the latest hardware and software.
The Master program is workshop-based, supported by seminars, lectures, tutorials, and fieldwork. Industry professionals, the program leader, and project leaders guide students via individual coaching and project mentorship.
The program consists of four main modules, courses and workshops, followed by a fifth module providing a professional experience period and a final portfolio presentation.
The modular structure is customizable, allowing flexibility and variety to better serve each student’s needs and goals for their professional career.
